Suzuki Kizashi 3

Suzuki Kizashi 2

Suzuki Kizashi 2....................

The Suzuki Kizashi concept shown earlier this month in Frankfurt strikes us as little more than a ripoff of the better-looking and more interesting Citroën C-Metisse concept unveiled last year in Paris. Sure, the Kizashi was glitzy, but we felt like it was something we'd seen before, and basically, we had. For Tokyo, Suzuki has prepared the Kizashi 2, and we prefer the sequel to the original. The Allroad/Outback-style ride height and contrasting-color lower accents are a lot more realistic-looking, and the overstyled grille and lighting of the Frankfurt Kizashi have been tossed in favor of what you see above. Power comes from a 3.6L V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic (presumably GM units both), and the press release makes mention of hybrid technology. Whether that's included on the Kizashi 2 or is simply something that could be applied to a Kizashi-esque vehicle in the future is unclear.

Suzuki Kizashi New

Suzuki Kizashi New............................

The Suzuki Kizashi is an upcoming mid-size car from Suzuki. It will be the late successor to the GM Daewoo built Suzuki Verona. Production will start in early 2010 in Sagara, Japan, with North American production to likely be assembled at CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. Reports suggest that the car will be built on a front engine front/all wheel drive platform developed by Suzuki. Its engine options will be a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder and a 3.6 litre V6. The price will range from $21,000 to $28,000. This car is much needed to compete with cars such as the Chevy Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata. It might be called Kizashi or sold under a different name. A crossover variant will also replace the Suzuki XL-7. As of January 2009, the Kizashi is on hold and possibly canceled. Suzuki has neither confirmed nor denied the cancellation of the car. On Tuesday January 6, 2009, Suzuki announced that the Kizashi was not delayed and that the news it was delayed was just a rumour. Suzuki also said the Kizashi will make its debut at the 2009 New York International Auto Show. Due to mishaps, the Kizashi did not debut at the New York International Auto Show. The car will go on sale by the end of 2009 as planned though.
